Dropped in sink

I accidently dropped my ipod in a full sink of water and now it obviously does not work, should i just wait and hope it dries out or what?

2 things you can do that were recommended to me by a friend.

1: Put it in front of a hot air vent. Dry air could do some good but depending on how long its been wet this may not work.

2: Open it up according to this and set both pieces on a soft surface (Towel on top of a counter) and let it dry for 2-3 days.

If neither of those work, I hope you got an extended warranty, or best buy takes pity on you.

I was told number 1 works well but ONLY if you act fast.

Number 2 is a gamble and is a last resort, both work but like I said, only if you act very quickly.

Dismal's right - try putting it overnight (or maybe even a few days) in the airing cupboard and then see if it works after that. If it's absolutely sacturated, this advice probably wont work but try it anyway, no harm in trying after all!

You should of even turned it on it can be perminantly damaged from power going through while water is inside. But try like dismal said leave it over night n let it dry and see what happens

I have never had any portable electronics die on me from being dropped into water, the reason?...

The battery gives out a low voltage, and most chips are rated between 5 and 15v, so even if a stepped down chip gets connected to a higher voltage the chances are it might screw up a calculation or something.

The hard drive is a sealed unit, so that should be fine. Open it up, put the parts in the airing cupboard, wait 2 days (shaking it every now and again to spread out the water drops) and it should be fine.

don't put the ipod on anything. no driers, none of that. let it dry out on it''s own.

I would agree. If you take those measures immediately without attempting to turn it on until it is completely dry than you have a good chance of it not messing up. But if you tried to turn it on while it was still wet inside, you may have damaged it, the electrical circuits had a good chance of shorting.

Just leave it, to dry completely. You will most likely get a charge from the battery but that isn't going to tell you if it works or not. But if you want to use a Multimeter have at it.
