HELP! I used Ephpod, all my songs got erased.

So my laptop was being repaired, and I wanted to add new music to my iPod via another computer. So I downloaded Ephpod and plugged my iPod in. I added the necessary songs to my iPod, saved changes, and then realized I had no idea how to eject. In a feat of stupidity, I unplugged the iPod while the "do not disconnect" sign was flashing. I turned on my iPod, and no songs were to be found!

The strange thing is, when I look at "about", it shows me that the exact amount of hard drive space is left on the iPod, before the songs were erased! "Space available: 10.9 gigs". But it also says there are 0 songs. When I connected the iPod again and went to Ephpod, it loaded the database and showed all the songs. Still, when I disconnected (after ejecting via the "remove safely hardware" on the taskbar), no songs were on my iPod. It's like the iPod and computer recognize that there's space being taken up, but no songs are showing up. Next time I tried to connect, it said the iPod was locked. I haven't tried it since.

All my songs are backed up on my laptop, but since it's being repaired, there's no way to resync with its iTunes. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way for my songs to show up again, or do I have to wait?

Have you dropped your ipod or done anything else to damage the hard drive? That same thing happened to my cousin. It turned out his hard drive was broken because her dropped it

When it says . . . Do not disconnect. . . do not disconnect. This can make the files corrupt when its loading or reading the iPod harddrive.

All repairs should be carried out with a hammer, if that doesn't work, use a bigger hammer, if it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

iPod, you Pod, we all Pod, its the iPod.

If they're corrupted, is there any way to remedy that? It still says there are files in the Ipod, it's just that the songs aren't showing up

the database on the ipod probably got corrupted or ephpod didn't completely write to the ipod before you disconnected it.

You can try connecting the pod again and go into ephpod and use the "write database changes to ipod" option. I forget exactly where it is since I'm at work right now, but that may do the trick.

My advice would be to stay away from anything other than itunes to load music on it. I've never had ANY good luck with anything else. I have used ephpod to offload music from my pod to back it up, but haven't had any luck with using it to transfer music.

Check the threads for 3rd party apps (and ephpod especially) to see if anyone there had any other ideas for you.

hope this helps....
