My sister and I have loaded our itunes/ipods onto our mum's computer. She has now bought an ipod mini, but can't get her ipod/itunes to work. Needless to say she is rather frustrated and any help would be greatly appreciated.

okay, well, how about some more details, ie what kind of computer, what kind of operating system, does the computer recognize the ipod at all? (ie shows up in my computer), do you get any kind of error messages? Have you tried resetting the ipod? Any other info that comes to mind would be good too.

Hi moe, lauren1985's mom here! We've got a windows xp package and my ipod has been reformatted for Windows.
Whenever, I open my itunes, all I'm getting is lauren1985's library. The computer asks if I want to replace the existing library on my ipod (there isn't one) with all other libraries...the girls are saying no, because otherwise it'll simply load their libraries onto my ipod, and result in their libraries/itunes being emptied. Personally, I'm almost beyond caring what happens to their libraries, but really...any thoughts? |

Hi there! Okay, so the girls seem to be a little confused. If you choose yes when you are asked that, it will simply load their libraries onto your ipod. If you choose "no" your ipod will still be usable on the computer. You will have to right click on it in the sources window on the left hand side, then go to preferences, where you can choose to "manually update" instead of "automatically update." This means you will have to "drag and drop" all of the songs you want onto your ipod, but it seems like it would be the best and least complex option if your girls are worried about their libraries being deleted. When I gave my 3g ipod to my brother, I had to do this, and he has to manually update his ipod each time (which I do anyway with mine), but it works fine. Let me know if this makes sense, I'm at work and kind of in a hurry to type before I go to school.
