Anyone getting distortion problems?

I've tried the stock earphones and my sennheisers, but when played at high volumes, I get some distortion - artifacts from bass.

Anyone else get this problem?

How are your songs encoded? I have found AAC @192 works well for most of my songs. Also check to make sure your equalizer is not on. That has to be the most useless iPod feature in my opinion.

do you get distortion from piano solos?-- try it.

its not a problem with your media (unless, like JohnnyRoaster says, you have low encoding) then its the ipod photo problem. I do believe ALL ipod photos have this, depends on the sensitivities of ears

Piano solos? I was listening to the first part of Van Halen's Right now (VBR around 200 kbs, in fact most of my songs are 200+ mp3.)

Only the hard bass notes of the piano were distorting. On hip hop songs and songs with heavy bass and at high volume. It is a little crackle every time the bass note hits (only high volumes mostly.)

I was thinking of getting the Pocket Amp 2 to first clean up the signal, and secondly provide more accurate amplification.

Maybe that loud music is making you deaf and you can't hear the distortion any more ! Problem solved!
