Relying on my extended warranty, I took my iPod for repairs to Best Buy. You see, my iPod skips, stops playing songs and then resumes. Initially, the Geek tech told me that it would take about 3-4 weeks to fix it. Well, it's been six weeks already, and I have not even received a courtesy call from them, saying that it's might take a while. I've calling for the last two weeks, and they always tell me the same... "wait until we call you..."
I asked if they knew how long it was going to take, but since they outsource that service the tech said that was out of their hands. I then asked the tech if I can get a loaner or replacement, and he said that it was not possible. I use my iPod for work related things. I am still here waiting... What do you think I should do; should I get tought on them and "demand" a more descence service; or should I should get it back? Any feed back will be appreciated. Sincerely, Alone and w/o a Pod. |

yeah when i sent my 3g in, they gave me a best buy tracking number type thing. Anyways, no one ever called me, i had to go online and i got a message that it was unfixable, and i needed to go get a replacement. It only took them like 2 days to figure out that it was broken too. You totally should talk to someone about that

Best Buy is NOTORIOUS for taking forever in making repairs. Since you're paying for it I suggest that you complain and bother them over and over until they get the job done. Many of my friends said they've had the same problem with best buy and the only way they were able to get their product back was to get in their asses and keep bothering them.

Thanks a lot for your response. I guess it is unanimous. I will call and ask to speak to someone in charge.
I will keep you posted. Thanks again. |

I can spend hours on this site just reading all the employee stories about bestbuy.

Well people, I called Best Buy this morning and asked to talk to a manager. The tech, instead, tried to help me out. I explained my suation to him, and at the end he told me that he was going to make a couple of phone calls and was going to call me in 15 minutes. After that time, he called me and told me that they were going to give me a new one. Now I have a brand new 40 gig iPhoto. The tech was really nice and prompt about everything... I wonder why this guy did not get my call from the beggining!
You see, that's what I am talking about... Promp and firm service. It did not have to take two to three weeks extra to get this type of response. It took the tech no more than 20 minutes to get it all straingten out. What do you think!? |

At the stores in my area, we use a direct-to-3rd party repair for things like iPods. they go directly from the store, bypass our Best Buy service centers, and head right to whoever the listed repair center is. When the work is done, they ship the product back directly to the customer.
Lately we've been having issues with packages being "delivered" (according to the UPS tracking numbers we can sometimes hunt down) back to customer addresses, but the customer claims to have never got the package. It's happened a few times, at least, in the last few months. Solution? make sure if you see a "DTV" label on the service ticket Best Buy has you sign, that you ask to make sure the product is delivered back to the store, instead of your home address. UPS and other carriers only make deliverys to us while we are open, so someone is always there to verify reciept.
