How can i possibly transfer downloaded music from limewire to my ipod without using the itunes software because that's on my laptop and when i attempted installing it on my comp. as well as my laptop i ened up deleting all my songs off my ipod.

If your trying to use the iPod on 2 PC's then set it to manual sync first. See 'Simple Guide' link in my sig.
