Is my battery charged?

This morning I noticed my battery was more than half empty so I started charging it. Two hours later I check to see if it was done and it wasn't. I disconnected it but then decide Id rather watch TV so I connected it again. I pluged it in and the screen said charged. I thought it was wierd that it was still charging before I disconnected it but now it was fully charged. So the next time i charged it i did the same thing and it happened again. Before I disconnected it was still charging but when I connected it again the screen said it was already charged. Is my battery fully charged?

The iPod "quick-charges" to 80% capacity (and will read full on the battery meter at this time), then goes into "trickle charge" for the remaining 20%. However, the iPod will not accept any new charge above a certain threshhold -- something like 80% to 90%.

Chances are that your iPod was about 80% to 90% charged -- then you pulled it off the charger interrupting the "trickle charge", and then plugged it back in. Since it was charged past the threshhold (but not to full 100%), it doesn't accept any new charge and displays "Charged" on the screen.

If you want 100% charge, leave it until the screen says "Charged." Sometimes it takes my 60GB photo almost 7 hours to fully charge off my FireWire port -- using the wall adaptor brings it down to about 4 or 5.
