Angry switched to firewire, now error '69!

I was having all kinds of problems with my 3G 15gb ipod and USB2.0. So I switched to firewire today. I even bought the Adaptec card that everyone on the Apple forum recommends is supposed to work like a charm. Now, every time I try to transfer songs, I get an error -69!! What the heck is this?!
