I've noticed that my 40 gb makes this strange spinning noise whenever I skip to a few tracks. Is this normal? Or should I have it looked at? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've noticed my friend's ipods never seem to make the same noise, so I thought it might be defective. Glad to know its not.

as MyPodRox stated if the sound is heard by the earphones then is diffective if it sounds about every 5 songs you skip then its normal, the cache is clearing and putting 5 new songs.
BUT ! Just to be on the safe side I would return it, if you feel that the noise is too loud and that it keep repeting very often. Musicroom
