I'm having a problem where my iPod seems to get stuck in sleep mode. When I put a song on pause and the iPod later goes into sleep mode on its own, I cannot restart the iPod without doing a hard reset (menu + select). The way it's supposed to work is I just have to touch the wheel and everything starts where I left off. The problem does not happen when I force the iPod in sleep mode.
I wiped out everthing on the iPod, ran the iPod updater software (01-2005), and then synched the iPod up again with iTunes. This did not fix the problem. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Last edited by Sean.Lloyd; 02-28-2005 at 11:53 AM. |

From what I've been able to gather, it appears that there is something strange with audio bookmarking and deep sleep mode. After some experimenting, I have been able to narrow my problem down to m4b files.
Some of what I've read indicates that the deep sleep mode should only be invoked after the iPod goes unused for 24-36 hours. My iPod goes straight to deep sleep when I paused in a m4b file. So if I'm istening to a podcast, park the car, run into the store, and come back (gone maybe 15 minutes), the iPod is in deep sleep mode. Is there any way to avoid this? |
