Is the new blue mini the same blue as the first gen?

Just yesterday I returned my ipod mini (first gen) because the battery on it wasnt lasting that long. I dont know if it was because I left it outside (in my car) a few nights in the cold or what. but I returned my silver mini for $250.

good thing I did because I see the price dropped $50. They didnt have any mini's in stock for $200 last night. Im debating over another silver one, or a blue. I dont want baby blue though. Is the new blue mini the same color as the old blue mini?
The colors didnt change right?
Thanks, Shane

The colors did indeed change on what they're calling the "2nd generation" minis (the 4 & 6 gig with longer battery life). The silver is the same, gold is discontinued, and the blue, green, and pink ones are deeper and darker colored (not so "pastel" looking). I just bought a blue one, whereas I would've gotten a silver before.

Did you return your ipod to apple? If so, did they test the battery or just offer you a refund / replacement? Thx.

thanks again for the pic, do you have a pic of the two silvers? I used to have an ipod mini (first gen) silver, is the new mini the same silver or more grey?
thanks, Shane

All the colours are now slightly bolder and more vibrant, except for the silver which remains the same.

That's an excellent picture, but is there a similar one for the greens? I don't like the new blue, so I'd like to see the new green before ordering one.

I did see some pics in other threads, but they were all very small and/or with poor lighting. Something like the above bluie comparison would be perfect, but I'd settle for just a good shot of a new green mini.

Cheers,
--M

The old pink is more metallic and shinier looking, not just a lighter shade of pink. The new color is flatter and deeper and to me it seems to have a slightly more orangish tinge rather than the very slightly lavender sheen of the old one. I actually liked the old color better. It seems like they didn't use as much glitter in the paint for the new ones.
