Angry help! my ipod has died!!!

I have a 3rd gen ipod (not click wheel) 20gb, less than a year old, purchased from Apple's refurb zone. I have an ibook and have just bought a G5 powermac. I successfully transferred my itunes lib to the G5 and synched the ipod OK. I then wanted to adjust the volume of all the tunes, so did this in itunes on the G5 and synched with the ipod. About half way through the sync, itunes and the ipod froze. Itunes is OK, but now the ipod won't start up. I've held down play and menu to reboot it, and it gets stuck on the apple logo, whirrs away, they restarts in a loop and eventually switches off.
Any ideas anyone?!?!?!

hey and welcome to the forums,

try this,
1.Connect your iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect your iPod to your Mac's built-in FireWire port

2.Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to Hold and then turn it off again)

3.Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons until the Apple/iPod logo appears (about 6 to 10 seconds). u may need to repeat this step!

Try restoring your iPod through the iPod updater software. If that does not work then you will have to send it off to Apple for repairs, it is less than a year old so they will fix it.

maybe you're just too rough with your stuff

i notice that a lot of people at my school that have iPods and other CD players or mp3 players or even headphones treat them like crap, well what I think is pretty rough.

if you've gone through 3 iPods already, it might just be you.
