300 MB download 3 hours and counting

just purchased ipod and have fast computer
cant beleive a 300 MB download from computer to ipod would take more than 3 hours and still not finished
is this normal?
any ideas would be much appreciated

No, it's not at all normal. Are you sure that you have USB 2.0? You should be able to check through your hardware profile. I think that if your USB Root Hub is powered, you have USB 2.0. If not, go get a USB 2.0 card.

i am using firewire connection
aboted the last transfer and am trying to load one 4 MB song from the library and its 7 minutes with no result
just says do not disconnect

finally figured out that I had disabled auto update
wonder why the ipod indicates its downloading stuff when its actually doing nothing

Ah. Well, it says "Do Not Disconnect" whenever it's mounted to a computer.
