iPod won't play some songs...only plays parts of some songs...HELP!

just got a 4g 20gb iPod......

Ok, most songs play perfectly fine...but some songs will not play on the iPod...others will only play partially. All of the songs on my iPod are from CDs or iTunes, so no, this isn't karma for pirating music. All of the songs play perfectly fine on iTunes on my computer.

Some songs will not play at all...it displays the song's info (artist, album, etc.) for a few seconds and then skips to the next song. Others play to a certain point (some around 10 seconds, others maybe a minute and a half) and then skip to the next song without finishing. It's always the same songs and it's always at the same second in the song, so it's not a problem with me shaking it or whatever and making it skip.

Some of the songs that have problems are from iTunes, some are from CDs, so it's not a problem with one or the other, it happens with both types. It's not a lot of songs, maybe 5/100...but it makes me mad because a few that won't play are my favorite songs, so I have to wait until I get home to listen to them on my computer. I didn't spend $300 for that.

Anyone else have this problem? What can I do?

Songs downloade from iTunes won't play

I have a similar problem; all of the 125 the songs I have downloaded from iTunes won't play on my iPod. Yet all of the music (about 2,300 songs) that I loaded from my own CDs plays just fine. The iTunes songs simply skip through from one to the next. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks,

i was having that same problem. I noticed that in my ipod settings, when you go to about and it shows you how much spaced has been used so far on your ipod, it was significantly less than it should have been. What seems to have happened is itunes took the actual song files off of the ipod but left the names in the library list. So you can see the name and when you go to play the song the ipod is missing the actual song file and skips over it.

Now is the problem of fixing it. I cant seem to. My ipod frequently freezes when i connect it to my comp. Not only that, but itunes freezes when i try to update my ipod to put all the missing songs back on. Whats the deal.

sorry for posting the same thing on a lot of threads...a lot of people seem to be having the same problem and this is simply what i have found
