Variable-Bitrate And iPod Compatibility

I was doing some recording with Nero Wave-Editor and saved it in regular MP3 (though it had the MP3-Pro option) in highest quality variable bit-rate, but when I transfer it to my iPod to listen, it cuts off the soundfile mid-way, but if I scroll a bit on the iPod tracking, I could hear the whole thing.... What am I doing wrong? Doesn't iPods support VBR?

The iPod can play VBR mp3's just fine. Instead of using Nero-Wave editor I would head over to www.bestmp3guide.com and check it out. The combination of EAC and LAME will produce really high quality files which are considered to be indistinguishable from the CD, not on the level that AAC is "CD quility" but on a higher level. It sounds like a problem with Nero-Wave editor, like it is making a 5 minute mp3 but only identifying it as a 2 minute and 30 second song.
