40g ipod photo--How do you extract your pictures back to your computer?

Is there a program that will allow a user to upload their pictures back to their computer? I found alot of good information about 3rd party software that will allow you to upload your music but none for the pictures aspect of the ipod. Thank you.

if you enable disk use, your iPod should appear as a removable drive. You can just copy your files from there as you would any other file in your PC

Thanks for the reply. I will check to see if i did. This was the first download of music and photos into the ipod and I do not think I changed any settings. Is "enable disk use" a default setting. If not, can i still extract my pictures back to my computer with or without the use of 3rd party software? I am doing alot of reading in these forums because this is my 1st ipod, but I am not comming across alot of info regarding the photo aspect of this Ipod. Thanks again.

If you have turned on the option in iTunes to "Store Full Resolution" photos, then you will be able to find your iPod photo content in the \Photos\Full Resolution folder by accessing your iPod in disk mode (it should simply show up as a drive on your computer). The photos in the "Full Resolution" directory will be organized into sub-folders by YEAR\MONTH\DAY, rather than by album, but they retain their original file names, so you may have to dig a bit, but you should be able to find them.

If you did not have the "Store Full Resolution Photos" option turned on in iTunes, then the only photos on your iPod are stored in a proprietary photo database. There is no way to directly copy these off without third-party software, however if you are using a PC, you can check out XPlay Photo Browser which is a free utility that will allow you to extract your photos from the iPod photo databases. You'll be limited as to the resolutions that you can get back (since the pictures are resized before being stored on the iPod photo), but it's better than nothing.

Thank you for your response. I did not have "Store Full Resolution" mode checked. It appears that was not a default setting.
I have 2 mac laptops, 1 powerbook and 1 ibook. I am currently running the latest operating system and I have the latest Photoshop installed. Is there a Mac program that will allow me to pull off the pictures, or If not, do you think there may be a program in the "works" that may be comming out. Thanks for your help.
