Anyone have experiences using their iPod in winter sports? I ski all the time, and i plan on keeping my ipod on me, but i'm not sure what the temp. range is. It will be inside my jacket which will provide some warmth. Can it get damaged if it is cold for an extended period of time? Anyone with a similar experience?

I went skiing with my 3G iPod a LOT. I kept in an inside pocket on my fleece, so it was as close to my body I could get itl. You want to keep it protected from the cold yes, but more importantly the snow itself. You don't want to drop it in the snow or anything. The iPod shouldn't have a problem with just cold temeratures. It's operating temperature is 32deg F to 95deg F so keeping inside your jacket should keep it nice an toasty.
I run the remote through my fleece, then through my jacket, clip it to the zipper pull, then tuck it into the zipper garage. That way the remote isn't DIRECTLY exposed to the elements, but at least it's accessible.

I usually dont fall, and i would be especially careful knowing its on me. I have a jacket with an inside pocket designated for an iPod. Its got a clear window so i can see the screen, and it has a hole for the headphone line which is nice. I also have a belkin case for it, so it should be plenty protected. Thanks though guys.

I myself have boarded with the ipod for a year now and have seen that when it gets cold it freezes the ipod and won't play until it gets back to normal temp.. Quick fix use a hand warmer it keeps the iPod from freezing up
Good luck and don't fall on it |
