Multiple Freezing iPods

I just got one of the new 4G 20GB iPods for xmas. It is my first iPod so maybe this is just me being a noob lol. Anyways after only a few days and about 100 songs on it (lost all my music about a week before) the screen froze when i went to the "Music Quiz" option. I didn't know what to do, so i took it back to the store and exchanged it for the U2 Edition which I liked better just for the colours. Anyways its been only a few days and about the same number of songs and low and behold the screen froze again! This time it was just during normal play. I called Apple and they said that it just happens sometimes and showed me how to restart my iPod. I think that is B/S!!! If i'm going to pay hundreds of dollars for this thing there shouldnt be any problems like freezing screens this early. Anyways i was wondering if anyone knows why this may be happening as it has happened twice and i want to know if its just bad luck and i should try getting another one or just fix what is wrong with this one. Any help would be appreciated.

PS (sorry for the huge post, and is it usual for these things to scratch so damn easily?!?!?!?)

I would try formatting your iPod with the iPod Updater. That is rare for both iPods to freeze in the same way, which leads me to believe that it could be some of the files on your iPod. So, try putting different songs on your iPod after formatting, maybe from a CD, to make sure it's the iPod and not the files. If the same problem continues to occur, I believe there is a large thread in this forum specifically for this type of problem.

As for your scratch problem, iPod surfaces are very prone to scratching, even in protective cases. To deal with this, in the "Gear Guide" section of this website, there is a cleaner that is supposed to do wonders with removing scratches on the iPod surface.
