Folder, Exclamation Icon/ No Mount

Okay my problem is like many others when I try to turn on my iPod Mini that runs on Windows XP OS it gives me the apple logo and then a folder with an exclamation point at this point it tirns off. Same thing over and over. I have tried to restore but when I put it in disk mode and connect, I start the updater and it says Initializing and then after 3 minutes of this it says Cannot Mount iPod. I am a newbie to iPods and MP3 players. This is my first one and I am really stressing so please help me! I checked on the iPod site and everything.

Thanks in advance,
Barrett H. Pyke

Exclamation

hello,

new 4g mini
I have the same problem, initially my ipod would not mount, would not update, itunes would not recognize it, the computer recognized it though as a removable hard drive. i tried the reset, the disk mode, i then formated the ipod, and tried all those things over again, I moved it from a usb2.0 powered hub, to the main 2.0 card, the card is one on the approved list. Then reinstalled all the software, rebooting on every delete and still Nothing works, I won this piece of crap through a charity event, I should have just took the $200 bucks instead of the I-junk and bought a dell. I would like this thing to work, and considered buying one in the begining, but i have never heard of so many people having touble, and the same kind of trouble with this i-pod. if you hear anything, send a reply my way also, FORSALE IPOD for $25... NOT!!! I RATHER PUT A 300 WIN MAG HOLLOW POINT THROUGH IT.

Dude, chill. It's not Apples fault you can't get it to work. You can both try to do a forced disc mode by holding menu and play till you see the Apple logo. Then while the logo is still there hold the ff/rev and see if you can get it to forced disc mode. Once it says ok to disconnect plug it in to the firewire or usb and see if it well run system restore. You should NEVER format you iPod with windows, only with the restore program that comes with the iPod.

Also, miked73usa, I will give you 100 +shipping to Ca. if you want.
