Exclamation Windows 98 USB driver updated for iPod Photo

I have updated Windows 98 USB driver so that it should support iPod Photo too.
The driver can be downloaded from iPod Win98 drivers page.

Feedback/questions/problems welcome in this thread.

I've used newer editions and haven't liked any of them. There's something about anything above 98 that really irritates me.

*shrug* Maybe it's a familiarity thing.

So photo iPods do work with Windows 98SE, correct?

Yes but unofficially. There are some 3rd party USB Mass Drive drivers out there for Windows 98.

One thing though, you'll need to initialise your iPod on an XP machine because thats the only platforms the updater will work on.

Once you've done that though, you're home and dry. It'll work on any system with a mass storage device driver on. You can use Yamipod or Anapod or something similar.

Awesome! Got the whole Windows XP machine handled, I have a friend who said I could use hers. Though, she's getting an iPod too, so will it matter that the computers already been used with an iPod?

Shouldn't matter, you only need to format your ipod which is basically all the initialisation is.

As long as she doesn't have itunes on her comp to be sure it's not on automatic sync otherwise you'll get a pod full of her music!

I have a question regarding using iPod Photo with Windows 98: could you please open Control Panel - System - Device Manager and tell me how's iPod called there? It should be something like "Apple iPod 1204 (http://www.mhobot.w.pl/ipod)".
I'm interested in that 12xx number.

Could you help me?

Question NEED SOME HELP PRONTO!!

Alright guys, well this is my story. I just received my 30gb photo Ipod today. I was all excited and had been looking forward to it, but i have a Windows ME. So it was a big letdown when i coudlnt get it to work. So now im here at home stuck staring at it. And im opting for something other than upgrading my comp to Windows XP. First whats an alternative to that? And what r the chances that itll work? Second, if i do get Windows XP, will all my music be deleted? And how much exactly will it cost me? HELP ME OUT GUYS!!!!! AND THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!

There is a webpage regarding Windows ME: http://www.geocities.com/mmcfly8888/
I'm afraid you won't get "Photo" functionality, only music (am I right?).

Music and album artwork supported by 3rd parties software on Windows 9x and Linux, so you are partially right.

I have ME too, and the guy at the apple store told me i could use it as a mass storage device, take all my mp3 files to work, and synch them on my G5 there. here is my question:

I plugged in my ipod photo to my PC with ME. I went to my computer and it recoginized it. I double click on it and it asked me to format. Will this erase everything? I know there is nothing on there to erase, but will it erase the OS and games and all the programs already on the ipod? will it be like formating a HD on your CPU and start with a blank screen? thanks for any help.
