Um, plugged new 4g ipod into USB port... just keeps blinking "Do not disconnect" ????

What's going on =(

When I plugged it into the USB port, windows detected a "usb mass storage device" and then installed something and then said "the device can now be used" but my ipod screen has been flashing "do not disconnect" for a long time, also... itunes 4.7 didnt even pop up.. whats going on??
???

Have you installed the iPod software yet?

Open iTunes yourself and see if it is recognized.

I'd throw on the latest iPod software from the website.

Good luck,
Stuart

I just noticed that at the top left of the ipod screen these like these 2 arrows rotating in a circle.. and also, theres an animation of a battery charging or decharging(?) on the top right.

I have itunes 4.7, some people on the forum here told me that I didn't need to use CD since I had 4.7 installed...

it is still saying "do not disconnect"

What do i do??

sounds like theres no problem.. no not disconnext is perfectly normal. itunes doesn't pop up on its own... you have to manually oppen it.

Is it showing up in iTunes? The battery is charging, not decharging. You'll notice it fills up from left to right and then repeats. That means it's charging.

Are the arrows actually moving in a circle? That means it is thinking.

You don't need to install the new iTunes but you may want to download the most latest updater for the iPod itself from apple at it's website: http://www.apple.com/ipod/download

I'd restore the iPod to factory settings with the updater and then see if it works after that. It may need just a little kick start. You may have to put the iPod into disk mode first. Instructions can be found in my signiture.

Good luck,
Stuart
