my computer(winxp) crashed and i had to reformat my hdd and now i have reinstalled iTunes and when i connect my ipod it shows the "do not disconnect" and then instantly says "OK to disconnect" without iTunes recgionizing it i also want to take my music from my ipod and put it on my newly reformatted hdd but the software can't recgionize my ipod this is really depressing and i would like help Quick

update(even tho no one cares)
my backups of itunes worked but now my ipod is still not being recgionized |

How is your iPod connected to your PC? USB? FireWire?
If possible, try another port on your computer.
