I just bought my ipod last week from circuit city so I can still return it in 30 days. Why I should return it is because I fully charged my ipod and I only used it for 3 hrs and the battery meter is practically dead is this normal?

As zero said, the battery meter is inaccurate. Read the FAQ's about the battery.
