just formatted comp, need to install itunes, but dont want ipod to be wiped out

anyway around this ? i formatted my comp, i need to reinstall itunes, but i dont want all of my songs on the ipod to be gone...is there anyway to install itunes without having to format my ipod ????? or can i just use another program ??? and is it true that your ipod can fry if u hook it up to the comp with no ipod programs installed

No your iPod will not fry if no programs are installed.

You will need to get your iPod to manual mode to prevent an empty iTunes from erasing your iPod.
