How often do you have to reset?

Right now I am considering whether I should try to exchange my 4g 20gb under warranty, its only a month old.

I don't use the ipod all that much, mostly at the gym or at home chillin. Maybe 10-15 hours a week at the most. However it has frozen up maybe once or twice a week since I have had it.

How often are you resetting your iPods? I talked to some people and they say "mine hasn't frozen up in over a year - yours is defective."

What's typical? Do some iPods never freeze up? Have any of you returned the ipod for this reason only?

when I first got it, I had to reset it alot. But haven't had to in a month or so. I think because I was trying to put so much on it at once and also I was trying different button press combinations to figure out how to use it. The manual doesn't tell you anything about it's functionality

hmm thanks for the input.

People reading this, even if you never reset, feel free to post that. I want to get a sense of how often this is a problem in general, if at all.

I've only had my 20GB 4G for a little under a month now with no problems at all. iTunes on the other hand has frozen once.

I've had my iPod Mini for about 1 month and I have had to reset it mainly because it wouldn't turn on after leaving it alone for a couple of hours. But so far it hasn't giving me any major problems.

For the first few weeks that I had my 4G 20GB I had to reset it nearly every day. Each time I shut it off for more than an hour or two, it wouldn't come on without a reset.

Then suddenly it stopped. I didn't upgrade it (there hasn't been a firmware release since August); I didn't do anything except normal charging and adding more music. It just started working, and I've gone a month or so now without needing a reset.

I'd recommend you specify when you need to reset - is it when you're trying to turn it on, or right in the middle of a song?

My resets are always in the middle of a song. They are different too. Sometimes I am in my car, the song keeps playing but I cannot get to a higher menu and I can't skip forward. Other times it will simply stop playing even though song still shows on the screen as if it were.

I have had to reset it a few times, but never during a song or while it was playing. It's only happened when the iPod has sat around for a few days without being used, it wouldn't turn on without a reset. I haven't had this problem in a while though. But if my iPod was resetting randomly during songs, I would think about getting a new one.

I've never reseted my ipod and i'm had it for moths now.. its good that you use your ipod and don't let it sit around doing nothing... the more you use it i found the faster it responds to commands and the less the battery dies..
