I recently bought a Speck skin for my 4G iPod (it was when the 4G first came out and I picked it up on ebay). I thought it was fine until I recently bought an iSkin Evo2.
(My speck skin got stained by Chinese Lilly pollen! yeah I know, but that stuff is leathal!) Anyway - I seriously recommend the iSkin Evo2 - it is a MUCH better product, tho you might be tempted by the fact the the Speck skin can fold back for dock mounting - the pros on the quality of the iSkin far out-weight the cons. 1. The iSkin Evo2 material is much sleeker, somehoe smoother to the touch - the Speck skin in slightly tacky to the touch and picks up dust easier. 2. The iSkin has vents to ensure a little air to the back of the iPod. 3. iSkin ships with a simple belt clip.. nice - and a screen protector - the speck skin offers no screen potection. also - the speck skin I had was the translucent option, which became slightly grubby and discoloured after a while - in fact a friend of mine descibed it as looking like an old condom! not a view a necessarily shared - but it might give you some idea.... also - the speck skin is quite a lot thicker on the top edges and inhibited the fitting of my iTrip, ultimately I had to actually trim the top opening to allow for an easy fit - whereas the iSkin actually thins along the top surface in order to allow accessories to fit easily - nice attention to user detail. not really wishing to completely slate the speck skin, it was fine in it's day - and the one advantage is the ease with which it fits to the dock - also it is half the price... but personally, I think the extra cost is worth it and I guess the logic is that if your iPod is in the dock, it is pretty safe from scratches etc anyway... My 20GB 4G iPod now has it's Ebony iSkin and it looks.......NICE - I think it's a product which legitimately enhances an already awesome design. It's like my iPod got its's own designer wet-suit, and as a surfer.... I like that. A LOT.
