Hi Guys, Please help me,
My Ipod has decided that it doesnt like me anymore, and when connected to my PC, my machine no longer recognises it is connected, and doesnt start itunes etc. The ipod recognises its connectivity, as it charges itself, but the PC thinks it does not exist, despite the fact it is connected on its usual USB 2.0 port and everything. Cheers Worried SI |

maybe it is because you haven't installed the ipod itself onto the computer properly??i think maybe the pc is just not recognising the new hardware.

Have you installed any other hardware since it was working
I had a similar problem with the MD's PC at work. He connects his camera to his laptop and it wasnt registering with his network username (business critical i know), but was fine with other usernames. The problem, it turned, out was that the camera was trying to map to a drive letter allready in use by a network drive, and windows instead of assigning it to another drive just ignores it . If this turns out to be the problem i will tell you how to reslove it otherwise i won't bore you with loads of irrelevent bollocks, sorry am i not allowed to swear in this forum, oh well we'll see i suppose. |

i have the same problem. my ipod isn't recognized by xp when it used to be in the past. i am using a firewire card that was working before. the ipod still charges but windows doesn't detect it. i tested the firewire card and it still works fine w/other devices. i reset the ipod and it still doesn't work. what a POS.
anybody know how to fix this? |

hello,
does the ipod uses your pc as an ac-adapter??so it charges, but xp wont see it? then you'll need te reset your ipod. ( switch it on hold, and back off. than hold the menu and play/pause at the same time untill apple logo apears, 6-10sec.) if that doesnt work, run your battery flat and recharch it while its in the dock thats connected to your pc. |

Yeah I had this exact problem earlier today, all I had to do was re-set my iPod and it worked fine again after that

I think the new Windows XP SP2 update may have something to do with our big problem here. My 3rd gen Ipod has worked fine for the past year, until recently when I updated my Windows XP.
I've tried and checked everything (restoring, new cables, etc.). From little reading on the web, SP2 limits or interferes with 1394 host controllers, firewire, and attached devices. An Ipod support tech has mentioned SP2 requirement to use Ipod. I hope someone can shed more light on this cuz I miss my Ipod. |
