Error code -36

Hello there

I'm trying to sync my itunes library with my ipod using the automatic update but everytime i've tried i get this message:

"attempting to copy to the Disk "iPod" Failed. An unkown error occurred (-36)"

Does anyone know what this means?

Thanks

Interesting...

I changed from USB to Firewire and I've had no problems...

Must be something to do with my USB connector.

Thanks for the input.

I have had this same problem on my Windows XP computer using a week old 4G 40GB iPod running iTunes 4.6.0.15. I noticed that iTunes gives that error (-36) when it reaches a particular song (I assume it can't copy) then it errors and won't copy any songs unless I change the order in which it copys (even then when it reaches that file it stops) or if I delete the file from my library it will copy the rest fine. Of around 800 songs I had 4-5 that were that way. At first I thought it was a HD problem on my XP box so I ripped the same song from the CD to diffrent HD, but still got the same error. So, I don't know if it's a CD reading error or an iPod thing. Any Windows related input would be nice, thanks.

I was trying to find out what song it happened at, too but i couldnt find it at the time. I have a large library so i was waiting for ages to see it so i got bored. Im sure there is an easier way to do it.

I'm running Itunes 4.6 on Mac OS x 10.3.5 btw and using a 4th Gen 40 GB iPod.

I actually couldn't figure out which song it was at first. I then just reversed the library order (if I had Artists A-Z I just clicked the Artists tab again to make it Z-A), then it got through all the good songs, then errored while I was a way. Then I came back to just a few songs to watch for it to error on. I hope that helps you find which song is the culprit until someone has the real answer for us.
