A few days ago I downloaded Ephpod so that I could move a few songs back to my PC. The next time I went to use the Ipod, it was wiped clean. I have no idea what happened, if it was something to do with ephpod, if itunes did it for some reason, or if someone got on my PC and accidentally did it.
What ever it was I nearly cried when I found out what happened, I had a bunch of stuff on there that was very rare and will be virtually impossible to locate again, not to mention that there's no way I can remember all the songs that were there to begin with. Any ideas what might have happened and if there's any way to fix it? |

Google "data recovery" and don't put anything else on the HD until you finish that. The songs might still be there as long as they weren't written over.

Just to be clear, it's my Ipod that's wiped clean, no the PC. I'll do the google search though and see what comes up.

Yes, I know. You can still do a 'data recovery' on the iPod HD. Here is a thread with the info on it you can read (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/sho...threadid=45619).

Thanks, I wasn't using very good search terms. Google wasn't much of a help, but I went to download.com and found a utility called Getbackdata for FAT that seems to be working ok (it still has about a half hour to run) and it's free. I found other utilities for $80-90 and one that does the recovery across the internet, but they charge $100.00 for each gig restored. Restoring a 20 gig ipod is out of the question with them.
If this works OK I'll post a followup later tonight. |

Dont pay for data recovery.
There should be plenty of very good tools that do this for you. You want to know why your ipod was cleaned? I T U N E S .... Thats the soft to blame. anyways, you dont have music on PC? I found this link on another forum, its free tool http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html Remember, your ipod is just like a normal hardisc.
