Good for you moppe. Glad it worked for you too. My solution extends its limits. Now I know I can recommend it to Windows users too...

For those asking about volume correction for Windows like iTunes has for Mac:
Try the free MP3Gain: http://www.geocities.com/mp3gain/ It will do lossless volume normalization using the best algorithm known for the task. It is mainly used to make all your MP3s sound as if they are at the same volume, but I am certain you can use it boost the volume as well. Unfortunately, this still doesn't fix the underlying problem with the volume limited iPods. |

Yes!!!! I have a 2nd Gen 10 GB Windows pod bought in the UK, and this fix worked like a charm. I'm running Windows XP Home, set the defaults to show hidden files & folders, plugged in the Pod, deleted the Limit file & boom! At least twice the volume for about a minute's work....
thankyouthankyouthankyou...now I can hear my Pod on the Tube! |

Fusen, I listented to your samples and there is a huge difference. But your after sample sounds distorted, or is that just the recording?
A good idea as well not to include the drop of that tune, the bassline is a bit too filthy (may have got you in a bit of trouble, lol). |

yeah the distortion is because the iPod headphones can't handle the bass coming through and mainly the whole other parts of the tune lol I was thinking afterwords a better way of doing it would be to plug my ipod into the line in on my sound card then download software to record it. But for this recording as it was just a 30 second thing which I thougth of about 3 seconds befour deleted the file All I did was just put my PC mic too the apple headphone and record which isn't a very good way to do it but I was just basically trying to show everyone the difference if someone does it again they can do it better or I could remake the limit file and make a better recording lol

Firstly, you do not want apple earphones for those sort of tunes, they do not do Andy C justice.
Secondly, can someone post the limit file? as well as the sysinfo file? Reason is: my G2 ipod came from America, there is no limit file, but I'm wondering if there is actually a limit on there, so I'm going to put the limit file on there too see if it makes a difference. |

I have sony ex71s, but then anythings better than the apple earphones, go to the gear section and there are alot of discussions about headphones.
Would anyone be willing to send me the limit file???? You can post it here, or send it to me monashk@aol.com I would be very grateful. |
