I had to reformat the XP OS on my laptop and lost all the songs in my ipod library. The songs remain on my iPod. I hope to receive my new iMac in a few weeks. How can I transfer the songs from my iPod (XP) into a new iTunes Library in the new iMac?
Thanx for your help and sorry if this is an old/frequently asked question. |

Easy. Since MacOS X will be able to read the Windows formated iPod (FAT32), this will not be a problem. When you get the iMac go HERE and do a search for "iPod". About a million things will come up, just look for one that will allow you to move you songs off the iPod to the iMac, then just add them to your library.

Great! There's a program called iPod Liberator 2.0. But I wonder if it will transfer from Windows to Mac OS. It may just be useful to transfer from the ipod to my XP laptop. Assuming I can then move the files from the XP laptop to the iMac in some way,how do I import the songs into the new iTunes?

After you have transfered the music to the HD, just go to File>Add Folder to library, when you've located folder, just click 'ok'.
You can use the iPod as a HD to move the songs from the XP to the Mac if you transfer them to the XP. Just drag-n-drop the music folder onto the HD.
