First off, take a deep breath... There, feel better? Now, ont to your question. after you have fromatted your drive, reinstall iTunes. When you plug in your iPod it will ask you if you want to autosync. Choose no, you can change it back later if you want. Go to the downloads section here in the forums and find a program like iPod music Liberator, or iPod Agent. They will let you take you music off of your iPod, as a copy, and then you can put the music back in to iTunes.

This sounds like you may have a virus on your computer. Perhaps try getting anti virus software and updating that if you haven't already. This would save you formatting and all the hassle that goes with it.

Just a thought.

absoluttito - you have windows XP and some of your choice are:

1-iPod Agent (http://www.ipodsoft.com/ipodagent.aspx). This is freeware.
2-CopyPod (http://copypod.ouvaton.org). This has a 14 day free trial offer and after that you will have to pay a fee to continue to use it.
3-SharePod (http://www25.brinkster.com/carmagt/SharePod). This is freeware.

Just make sure you uninstall iTunes first and transfer the songs to your music folder and then download and install iTunes after. Itunes is set to auto sync with the iPod and on windows it will not ask you if you want to autosync, it will just do it. Only on a Mac computer will it ask you that question.
