I don't get it- Is apple having HP make ipods to help with the worldwide shortage of ipods?

No. The iPods are still made by Apple. They are Apple's parts, made in Apple's plants, running Apple's programs.
The ONLY differences are the HP + Apple logo on the back, a rewritten manual, and the iPod's initial formatting. HP simply offers wider distribution for the hottest portable music player around. That's it. The HP iPods won't even be priced differently, most of the time. $299 and $399. Last edited by claymcc; 08-28-2004 at 05:25 PM. |

Haha... I'm happy with my APPLE 4G. These HP's are a joke.

How are they a joke if they are the exact same player as the one you own? Just a different logo on the back and a different color button on the front....

They come formatted for Windows rather than the Mac (which I think is great, it's pretty stupid that the majority of iPod customers have to reformat their iPod currently first thing out of the box). |

speaking of boxes...
will the original iHPod boxs be as amazingly slick as the current apple ones? HP's design department appears to be #### if their other products are anything to go by

You are responding to a 3 yrs old thread. HP-Apple since have parted ways and HP no longer sell iPods.
