No. The iPods are still made by Apple. They are Apple's parts, made in Apple's plants, running Apple's programs.

The ONLY differences are the HP + Apple logo on the back, a rewritten manual, and the iPod's initial formatting.

HP simply offers wider distribution for the hottest portable music player around. That's it. The HP iPods won't even be priced differently, most of the time. $299 and $399.

What do you mean byiPod's initial formatting? Basically there aren't any major differences.

There aren't any differences, it's a 4g iPod manufactured for HP's distribution channels versus Apple's.

They come formatted for Windows rather than the Mac (which I think is great, it's pretty stupid that the majority of iPod customers have to reformat their iPod currently first thing out of the box).
