I notice there is a new software updater for the iPod now... http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
However, after all the recent problems many people, including myself, seem to having on this board, I am *very* wary about updating my player in any way from now on. Having said that I requested a repair on the 01/08/04 citing that my iPod was no longer recognised by Windows XP after an iTunes update. 3 days later a box to return it arrived at my house (it would have been 2, but I was away first time) I was reluctant to let my player go at first but because I couldn't no longer add/remove music in any way, I was left with little choice. Once UPS had got hold of it, it went to Holland, was replaced with a brand spanking new player, and returned to me in the UK in 4 days. Bear in mind this was over the weekend too so top marks for the turnaround. I was so glad to be re-united with my iPod (or, at least, a very good substitute) in such a short time that I can't help but congratulate Apple and UPS for great customer service. Yes, you could argue that I shouldn't have had to send it back in the first place but at least they sorted out the situation as best they could in the quickest time possible. If anyone is having the same problem I had, I would highly recommend filling out the repair form http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/ and trying to get a replacement (especially if you live in the UK) Just be careful about updating if you get a new iPod though...
