Is this a good price for a 5 gig iPod from 2002?

I don't know much about this generation stuff, but I may be able to get a 5 gig iPod that this person purchased new in 2002 with the power adapter, firewire cable, earbud headphones, and a clip on carry case for $100. I called Apple and they said as long as my Windows computer has a firewire port (which it does) then this iPod will work. So my question is, is this a good price? I don't want to pay to much.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Hmm...I don't know about that. I'd rather get the refurb 10 gig at the Apple site for $169 + tax + free shipping.

You might not care about the extra 5 gigs, or that it's going to be thinner and lighter, and it won't have a case, but you will have an Apple warranty to fall back on. Also, would you really want to use earbuds that were previously used?

Besides, the battery on that old iPod (unless it was really well taken care of) is likely to start failing in the next year or so.

No, I wouldn't use the earbuds. I was just listing what came with it. I don't have $170 + tax, so I can't get a refurb from them. Someone on another site mentioned getting a 10gig off eBay for $135, so I guess I'll look into those.
