Lightbulb Battery meter

I recently bought a 40G iPod and have a question about the battery meter. When I charged the battery today and it was completed, out of curiosity I took my iPod out of the cradle and placed it back in to see how long it would take my already charged iPod to charge up the last 5 seconds it was out of the cradle. I was expecting maybe a minute or two, but it took two and a half hours. I read in the manual and it said that it takes 1 hour to reach 80 percent and 3 hours to do the next 20. I'm guessing that this is normal for my iPod to take a long time to charge an already charged iPod, but is it? Sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I'll repost it in other words if it doesn't. Thanks!

Yes, this is the nature of the iPod charging animation. The iPod really isn't taking 2.5 hours to charge a five second out iPod. You can't overcharge your iPod, so all is well. Completely normal, no harm being done.

And welcome to the lounge.

I have the same problem with the battery draining even after fully charging it and leaving it turned off. The only difference is that i leave it for 2 days and it is dead.

I have changed my iPod twice already in 6 months and still i face this problem. I was initially using the wirewire connection to a Creative Audigy Platinum card to charge it but i switched to the wall socket and still faced this problem.

Windows XP System
20GB iPod
FireWire/Wall socket connection
iPod Version 2.2

Have you checked the alarm settings for the calander and the alarm clock. Some people report an unknown alarm clock turning the iPod on and draining the battery flat.
