Cannot download iPod 2.2 update. Problem for anyone else?

I cannot download the update directly from Apple, version 2.2 3g iPods. I've been trying all day! FOR CLARIFICATION, I CANNOT DOWNLOAD THE UPDATE PROGRAM. I AM NOT HAVING PROBLEMS INSTALLING IT BECAUSE I CANNOT EVEN DOWNLOAD IT.

Since you cannot manually start the download, I was wondering if someone else could post the file (or link me to a direct download.) I had to go to download.com to get the new version of iTunes, but they do not have the iPod update up yet so I cannot upgrade. I would really appreciate the help!

Did you download iTunse 4.5 first? It is a prereq for 2.2

The thing is, I simply cannot download the update from Apple's site. I can download other things from other sites, but for some reason Apple's site just doesn't work. It's not that I can't install it, I just cannot download it. At all.

i downloaded iTunes, and then the update thing poped up and went away, and never came back.. I try to disconnect / reconnect and its not coming back.... and now its not recognizing my iPod (probably because not updated)


edit: ok it recognized it, not sure if it updated or not

I downloaded both iTunes 4.5 and the iPod update 2.2 yesterday from the Apple website. Installed them last night without difficulty.

rlucas: Run the updater again. It will say what ver. you have and if you need to update. After the update, on your iPod, go to settings>about. It should say version:2.2

Well, I have WinXP Pro and have never installed iTunes. Yet, I had no problem downloading and running iPod 2.2 update. It worked without a glitch and took only a few minutes. Now the About screen says my iPod is running Firmware 2.2.

yo i have a question... if i update from 2.1 to 2.2 will it erase all my music?

all my music is on my ipod... not my library...
