Do you have that icon showing? Also, your ipod would display, "Do Not Disconnect" on the screen. Tell us if thats happening. |

Anyone else having their playlist vanish when plugging in for a recharge. Not plugged into the computer but just a straight shot from ipod to wall charger?
ipodnewbie - I'm not positive but I think the 1.3 update only allows you to do the AAC files which you can't download anyway on a windows machine. I could be wrong, just throwing that off the top of my head. |

questions:
1. Have you ever had it working on that computer? 2. If so, when you connect the ipod to your computer, does a little icon appear in the bottom right hand side of your screen (near your clock) with a green arrow? 3. If so, do you have the approiate software to view data on your ipod (ephpod, etc.) 4. Is this ipod formated for windows or mac? |

read questions two - four and get back to me. Also, go hare >> http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/d...featured/1394/ and download that so your firewire stuff is up-to-date.

go to the link above and download and install. That should clear your problems away. After install, might have to reboot, then plug in ipod into firewire port. If you still don't see it, check your system to see if firewire card is listed under the device manager. If not, reinstall card.

Thats still not my problem. I can't get the software that comes with the ipod to install. I though this was how you do it.

ibons: (and anyone alse)
I've tried to do the updater process for my 3 gen 30gb iPod - without success. I get to the screen below and when I search for updater - I don't get an iPod updater file ANYWHERE (I have a c: and d: drive). If i select install I get the 'operating system not supported message' Any further suggestions? ... another irritated Windows 98 SE user .....

Kottbullar,
Go back to the first posts in this thread and follow the directions exactly as stated. Clicking the install button on the picture to posted takes you to far. Just go back to the beginning of this thread and follow the instructions from ibon and myself. |

Just for the record, having now installed both a 2G and a 3G ipod under Windows 98SE, the firmware 1.3 updater for 2G will install under Win98 no problem, the firmware 2.01 updater for 3G will not, but if you follow the steps outlined on this thread you'll be fine.
