I tried searching the latest iPodSetup file (dated 11-17-05) from Apple, using the method provided in this thread for those running Win98SE, but I didn't find an updater. I have a 4G, 20GB iPod with firmware V3.0 and I wanted to upgrade to V3.1. Does anyone have a copy of an updater file that will allow me to do this? Thanks.

The last updater that could be run under Windows 98 was version 2.01. It couldn't support 4G iPod, only 3G and older.
More info at http://www.98-drivers.com/ipod.html Latest iPod updater can always be found at http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ Last edited by ohm; 03-23-2006 at 02:47 AM. |

(have tried to run this fle but it did not run, it said I have to run setup.exe) FYI, when I run setup file, it appear window screen to select the language, then I search the file using find file program, and I can not find the file you mentioned in your post. Please, nobody else waste an hour of your life hunting down the defunct solutions provided by this thread. Sadly, this is the top result on google for 'win98se ipod usb'.
This thread began in 2003. All links in this thread including the top "updated" post contain trash guidance and links. They're either 404 or, in the case of the USB driver, links to a page asking for $5/download (obviously he's never, ever used Free software himself. Oh wait. Besides EphPod. Some people are givers and some takers, I guess.) Anyway, I'm probably one of the last 15 people on earth still using Win98SE so this whole thread will probably soon be obsolete. For the time being my little sister will just have to wait till the home PC gets updated to XP or Vista. |

You don't have to pay for download if you support charity in any way.
This is clearly stated on mentioned iPod Win98 webpage. "Some people are givers and some takers" - were that your words? |
