iPod repair question

Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of repairing an 6th gen iPod classic. Basically it was kept in charge and not used for about two years. It looked like the battery had ruptured and wouldn't turn on. Having taken it apart and broken and replaced the loom for the hold switch and earphone jack it powers on. Unfortunately there is no response from the click wheel. Having done a bit of research the general consensus seems to be new click wheel. Looking at the logic board the microswitches for the buttons are mounted on it. Surely the click wheel not working wouldn't affect these buttons as they appear to be separate. I'm sure I'm not understanding it correctly! And advice gratefully received!

Thanks again!

Most of the reads are from spiders indexing the site for search engines. Some people like myself have read it as well, but since the majority of people have never even opened an iPod let alone diagnosed an issue, there are very few people that can answer the question.

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....
