Smile My ipod classic 160gb always has to resync 1000 songs

He everyone

I have a problem I got a new ipod classic 160gb and for the last few weeks every time I add a new album I don't use iTunes I download from music websites, my ipod always either has to re-sync entire music collection or at least 500-1000 songs. when I got my ipod I added and old iTunes.itl file to the new ipod and some songs are in the four letter format so im guessing this has something to do with it how do I get my ipod classic in order were all the music will stay put and it doesn't have to re-sync 1000's of files over and over again is there any free software I could use to organize this data. or a fix for this problem.

thanks eric85z

Restore the iPod with iTunes and re-sync everything over. My best guess is that things became messed up when you manually added an older file. You shouldn't have done that. Restore the iPod with iTunes, this will erase everything on it, and then re-sync all of your content over. That should do the trick as restoring will delete the older iTunes library file (don't manually do anything in the future!) and allow iTunes to structure everything so that it is properly synced to your iPod.

Restoring an iPod is one of the main fixes for most issues with an iPod. This i swhy it is never a good idea to keep your only copy of your music on an iPod. For more help read Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide.
