I have an ipod classic with tons of music on it. Can I load music bought from itunes onto it without losing my original music? Thanks,

If you set iTunes to "Manually Manage" the iPod contents (vs. "Automatic Sync"), then you can add music to it without "sync-ing" to match the iTunes contents.
However, if the only place that this music exists is on your iPod, its only temporary anyway. iPods are not permanent storage solutions; it's only a matter of time until the iPod database gets corrupted & the iPod needs to be restored - at which point it will be erased & any music not stored elsewhere will be gone.
