My mate has plugged my iPod 80gb Classic into a Windows 7 machine with Anapod and now my iPod thinks that there isn't any music.
It looks like the library has been deleted - weirdly in Windows it's still showing up as almost full and you can see music if you click on a file you can play back the audio but the actual iPod is showing no songs. Is there anything I can do to restore 5 years worth of music?! |

The most likely issue here is that the database which indexes the music on the iPod has become corrupted, so the iPod operating system can't find the music, even though it's all still there on the hard drive.
There are iPod recovery tools that might work, but your best bet is to copy the music off the iPod and back onto your computer right away, at which point you can just import it all back into iTunes and reload it back onto your iPod from there. You may lose your playlists in this process, along with data such as ratings and play tracking (last played time, play counts, etc), but all of the identifying information like name, album and artist is stored in each file, so iTunes will be able to read this in from there to rebuild your library database. See our tutorial on Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer for more information.

I fixed it by doing the following:
There is one way to restore the iPod Classic database, which it was corrupted by Anapod. In the iPod directories, using plain windows explorer, go into the following path: F:\iPod_Control\iTunes (in mi case the disk drive for mi iPod is F: ) In there you will find two iTunesDB files one of them with ANAPOD: iTunesDB.ANAPOD or something similar. You need to reverse the anapod steps. Erase iTunesDB file, rename iTunesDB.ANAPOD to iTunesDB All credit to the user: TrAnKaS |
