ipod won't sync

About a week ago the power supply and mother board were replaced on my iMac. Today I went to sync my iPod and I received a message that this mac was not authorized to play purchased music. I authorized it but now it won't sync. there is a deficit of about 140 songs on my pod (purchased) any ideas or help with this would be appreciated.

Since your mainboard was changed the computer is seen as a new computer. You should still be able to cancel the Restore process the right click the iPod in iTunes then select "Transfer purchases". Once you have confirmed all your music is in iTunes you will have to Restore the iPod to link it to the computer again. Restore will erase all media files off your iPod.

You can also now redownload previous purchases in the iTunes Store. You would still have to Restore the iPod in this case as well.

Thanks for the reply. Another question if I may? When you say erase all media files that would mean music as well? I would then sync to get the music back on my pod correct?

Ask as many questions as you need.

When Restoring a classic all media files are erased and the software is re-installed returning the iPod to a factory setup. Media includes music, video and pictures. This action may differ a little with iOS devices however you should always expect to lose all of your data when restoring anything. For this reason you should always keep at least 2 copies of any files you do not want to lose. Never consider the copy on an iPod as a part of any back up routine due to it's vulnerabilities to lost or corruption. USB hard drives are relatively cheap these days. I keep 2 back ups of my irreplaceable files as well as my copies on my computer. If all those fail at the same time then I would consider myself lucky to have the content on iPods, iPhones or my iPad.

Before Restoring any iOS or iPod device ensure you have all your media backed up or accessible by other means. iPods rely on your content to live in an iTunes Library which will be recopied to the iPod when Restoring is necessary.

Thanks for your reply. after authorizing and re authorizing I now had a difference of 21 songs between my iTunes list and my iPod. Since I have 8000 songs on my iTunes list I am happy whee things sit now.

Thanks for spending your time helping me out. Your patience with me is why I belong to forums. I belong to quite a few
