I have just done some work on my iPod library and wonder now what to do.
I have been replaygaining an itunnorming all over the place and wonder if the changes will be made when I sync the pod or do I have to reinstall the library? Cheers Last edited by auldyin; 09-28-2011 at 04:39 PM. Reason: Spelling |

You were pretty vague in your description here and no one probably knew what you did. Not sure what you mean by "itunnorming" but assume when you mention "replaygaining" you were normalizing the volumes of your music library.
Sometimes iTunes will replace modified files automatically sometimes it doesn't, may have something to do with the "date modified" associated with the files. After making the changes to the files on the computer if iTunes doesn't replace the originals with the new modified files when you sync then you will have to do it manually. Sometimes, depending on the amount of files changed, it may be easiest to Restore the iPod using iTunes. Restore will erase all files off the iPod, re-install it's software and re-sync your entire library which should be the newly changed files. This also may depend on the programs you used to normalize but you may also be required to turn off all instances of "Sound Check" on your iPods and iTunes. Some programs write the volume changes to the ID3 tag, others may use Apple's Sound Check option but better utilized. Bottom line is when you sync the iPod if the newly changed files are not transfered automatically, you will have to Restore or set the iPod to manually manage, delete the tracks, reset auto-sync and the changed files will be copied over.
