Hello, please help me.
I purchased a used 10 GB iPOD from Ebay with the understanding that the software was not loading and instead all that could be seen was a file folder and exclamation point. I figured out how to fix this and purchased the item sure I could make it work. Okay. So I have my iPod, my Windows XP Dell computer, and my USB DOCK CONNECTOR to USB 2.0 + Firewire. I plug the dock connector into the Ipod, the firewire into the adaptor so it is getting power, and the USB into my computer. immediatly, message on my computer telling me that "USB Device not recognized. No drivers are installed for this device" I run all the trouble shooting things and nothing. please help me I am so sad. |

is your ipod a new one?
new ipod is supplied with a installation cd, when you install the software you'll get the question to dock your ipod for configuration. maybe you should try that. Are you sure your USB port is OK? try another USB device. |

hi
my USB ports are fine, they work with other USB devices, and i have done the uninstall/reinstall with them thing, and it doesnt fix the problem. yes, I have the software, and I have installed and reinstalled more times than I can count. When I install it, and it asks me to connect the IPOD, I do so each time, and all I get is a message from my icon tray giving me the old "USB Device is not recognized" rigaramole, and in the installer it tells me my IPOD is not connected. thanks for trying to help... |

a questions and an tip.
Did you pick this iPod up for $160 off eBay? (I watched an auction for an iPod with this problem during the weekend, and with normal processing time, it would've gotten to you just recently, [I'm j/w, you don't have to answer this]) Also, you installed the software, but what about iTunes? yes, maybe it's itunes. when you connect to the dock, ipod displays after a while 'ok to disconnect'.
itunes will disconnect after sync. if this happens change the option in itunes |

Not sure it's the same problem, but I often get "USB not recognised...." when my ipod is out of batteries, even when it's plugged in to the mains as well, I just close the message and wait 5 minutes or so and Itunes eventually pops up with it, have you given it a good chance?
