Hi there, new poster here.
I'm currently trying to bring back to life my dead iPod photo. I bought a new hard drive for it and replaced it successfully and managed to get it into disk mode but could only get iTunes to recognize it for a few seconds before I lost it again. Then after messing about with the new drive I tore the ribbon cable connecting the headphone socket and hold button to the motherboard and then the iPod would not do anything else after that. Now the iPod does not even charge properly. When I plug it into the laptop it just shows the battery discharged logo and does nothing else. I'm determined not to give up on it but I'm stumped as what else to try? Thanks in advance for any advice. |

Well,
Chances are you need a new battery after it has been sat around so long. If the battery is not holding a charge then you will not be able to connect to the PC in diskmode or any other mode before the residual energy in the battery just dissapears again. 1st step is to replace the battery and leave it to charge. then you should be able to sync to yur computer. You will also need the new audiojack/hold switch circuit. because the minute that broke, the default setting of locked will have kicked in, meaning until you replace the hold switch/audio circuit, the clickwheel will not work. The whole lot could be down for under 20 euro and would take about 5 mins. |
