dropped ipod in sink!

i bought my ipod nano chromatic, in the middle of march, then about 1 month later, carelessly, i dropped it into the sink. itand was only literally under water for like 1 second, but then i turned it off, i placed it into the airing cupboard for about 1 month, but it still wouldnt turn on, it is fully functional, when i plug it into the computer, and it DOES showup on itunes, it's just, when i unplug it from the computer, it goes blank and wont turn on, and no, its nothing to do with being not fully charged because even if i leave it plugged in for a while then take it out straight away it goes blank

so i was just wondering, because it has a 1 year warrenty on it, is it possible to get a refund, or a replacement ipod?

PLEASE HELP.

i dont get pocket money, so that was my christmas money and half of my birthday money, and so if it cant be replaced, then thats like £100 down the drain, and stuff.
thank you!

If it works normally when plugged into a computer, in other words, when it's plugged into the computer you can play songs on it, both through your headphones and through the computer, then my guess would be that it's just a battery problem.

However, if it doesn't actually play music when plugged into the computer you probably have other issues.

I'm pretty sure the Apple warranty doesn't cover accidental damage.

The 4th gen nano isn't an easily accomplished battery replacement for the average user. A quick Google search turned up this company that does replacements. http://www.ipodjuice.com/fourth-gene...nt-program.htm

I have never done business with them so I cannot vouch for their service.

All iPods have little pieces of paper that turn from white to pink when exposed to water. This is one of the first things Apple looks for when an iPod is sent in for service. Upon seeing that your iPod's water indicators are pink, they will return it to you without any service being done.

do you know where the peice of paper is in the ipod nano chromatic?
i looked in the headphone jack, and i saw a little silver and white circle at the bottom, i didnt know whether that was it , because surely it would be pink cos i dropped it in the sink, but it wasnt? :S

Yes - similar to cell phones; Apple can tell if the iPod has gotten wet & it will not be covered. It's not something you can fake.

I've used Apple warrenty service a number of times (I've or kids have owned 2 20Gbs, a 60Gb Photo, an 80Gb 5.5Gen, 160Gb, and 120Gb classics). It has always worked very well execpt when the damage was caused by one of us "mistreating" the iPod - in which case Apple has figured it out & not covered it.

You could always try a warrenty claim - if they don't cover it, you'll get your broken iPod back.

check service warranty... sometimes they will tell you things different in store than what is actually in the writing. Some managers have "store policies" but these arent based on actual factual writing.

I'm not sure where it is on the nano. On the iPhone it is the headphone jack and in the dock connector. If you dropped it in water - even for a second - the indicators should have turned pink. Send it in to get it checked out. You really don't have anything more to lose.

im a bit confused cos i looked iin the headphone jack, and i saw a small white circle, well, it was like 2/3 white, and 1/3 silver, and it hadnt turned pink???

and some websites say the chromatic doesnt have a water sensor, but others do, so im a bit confused on how apple could tell if it was water damaged if it didnt have the sensor?

Roll the dice & see . Don't know why you are hesitant....

Worst that can happen is no warrenty work - and you get your broken iPod back.

Best outcome - they think it is not "user caused" and they fix it.
