It's a little more, but they're selling them for $269 at the brick-and-mortar Apple Stores.

I picked up a 160 gb in black at the Fry's Electronics store here in Phoenix, Arizona for 279.99. They had lots.

$279.99 is a little high but $250-$260 are reasonable prices considering that the 120GB iPod classic is $250 and the 1G iPod classic (often called the 6G iPod) will be receiving a firmware update that gives it every single feature (including Genius) of the 120GB iPod classic model. In my opinion, there is no need to purchase the 120GB model when the 160GB ones (don't forget that their batteries last 10 hours longer when it comes to audio playback and 2 hours longer for video playback) are so cheap.

I'll have to correct you on a couple of things:

-Battery life on 160GB is only 4hrs/1hrs longer for audio/video.
-There's no plans to update the 1st gen classics firmware for any features the 2nd gen has.
See here and here.

That being said, the only new feature I see is Genius, so if that's not important then the 160GB is just as good as the 120GB (aside from the thickness and the ability to use the navigational and voice recording features of the upcoming earphones)

Well, my statement was thought to be correct at the time I wrote it. That was when an Apple rep stated that Genius would be coming to the previously released iPod classic models. Now Apple has retracted that statement. You are right about the specs though. At the time, I was looking at Amazon's 120GB iPod classic page and their specs make it the same as the 80GB iPod classic. I don't know if Amazon has updated their information or not but I was looking at their website the day the 120GB iPod classic was announced. So again, I was right with the information that I was using.

That being said I still see no reason to purchase a 120GB iPod classic when a 160GB model can be purchased for a cheaper price and it has beefier hardware options.

My point was that the info was wrong, not that you were lying or anything, hence the 2nd link I posted. Just wanted to make sure you and others were aware of it.

Yep. Like I said, unless the Genius and headphone jack changes are important, one might as well pick up a 160GB if it can be had for around the same price.

Where can I find an Ipod 160GB for close to the same price as a 120GB?

Thanks in advance
