I got a similar message last night that said something like:

"The itunes library can not be saved (-48)"

I restarted itunes and it went away.

Please let us know what iPod and software version of iPod and iTunes you are using please. Also windows or mac and software level there please.

These particular unknown errors can be tough to track down.

Thanks, What are you doing most commonly when you get this error message?

Do you know if your version of Vista is 64 bit?

Do you automatic sync or manually manage?

Unfortunately this error message is super "generic" and does not always point to something specific....

You might try to restore your iPod to factory settings one more time.

You may try to simply reset your iPod before connecting (hold down center and menu button until you see the apple logo).

Do you seem to get this error at the same point of every transfer?

How much music are you trying to transfer to the iPod?

you could try to reinstall iTunes.

Before this, though, I might try a different USB port than what you are currently using. Using a dedicated usb on the back of your computer if possible, not a hub or keyboard one, etc.

You may also try to update your usb drivers.

Sounds like you are now on automatic sync when you used to be on manually manage. Re set your iPod settings: See this article for explinations of iTunes syncing: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/art...ing-your-ipod/
